How do I receive job offers?

Settings:

Choose your notification preferences in your profile. Alboum encourages interpreters to subscribe to both text message and email notifications. As we have no control over the speed of either, this provides the best chance of quick notification.

Text Messages:

When you are invited to an assignment, you will receive a text message that looks like this:

Email:

When you are invited to an assignment, you will receive an email that looks like this:

Be sure to check your availability for the date and time, including confirming the time zone. The system will highlight both the client’s time zone and how it is adjusted for where you are located if it is not the same. If you are available for the assignment, please click Accept. Otherwise, click Decline. You will be notified if the job is still available and you are confirmed for the assignment.

Dashboard:

You can also check job offers on your Dashboard in the Alboum Interpretation Portal. Click

on the appointment to see further details and Accept or Decline the appointment.

After you accept an appointment, it is confirmed when you see the green Confirmed status. It is possible that several interpreters accept an assignment offer at the same time. If you do not see Confirmed in green, you are NOT assigned to cover this appointment.

If you click on an appointment invitation and it is no longer visible, it means that another interpreter has already accepted the assignment.

I’ve been confirmed. Where is the link?

In the appointment details

Once the appointment has been confirmed and prior to the day of the interpretation, check the appointment for the meeting link. Click on the appointment (which now appears as Scheduled) in your Dashboard:

Click on Additional Information and a pop-up window will appear with the Zoom details.

The meeting link and Notes (extra information that may be useful for the interpretation) are all in the Additional Information field. Be sure to login to meetings timely and check this in advance as the meeting links are no longer accessible  once the meeting start time has passed.

Our clients depend on our interpreters arriving promptly to meetings. If you are having connection issues or sitting in the waiting room for your assignment past the designated start time of the meeting, you must contact us IMMEDIATELY via email, at help@alboum.com,. Please provide screenshots if possible. Alboum reserves the right to withhold payment if you do not provide timely substantiation of client-side issues that prevent you from rendering services.

After the assignment: update the actual appointment time

Interpretation Portal — alboum.interpretmanager.com

Interpretation appointments will disappear from your dashboard after the date/time has passed. If your call goes longer than originally scheduled, you will need to adjust the end time so that you are compensated correctly.  To do so, go to the Appointments tab to locate past appointments. Click on the date of the appointment in the calendar and then on the appointment itself. Click Open. Please note: If a meeting ends early, you can skip this step and continue on to page 8 for invoicing instructions as you will be paid for the originally scheduled call regardless if it was shorter than scheduled.

This will take you to the appointment view. On the right side, click Revise.

A new pop-up window will appear in which you can enter the actual time for the interpretation. Enter the actual time you logged in for the tech check and the duration of the appointment. The end time should adjust automatically. This step must be completed even if the time you see appears correct. Alboum will confirm these changes after you make them. If you are modifying the appointment time because your call went longer than originally scheduled, it is important that you wait for Alboum to approve the change before invoicing or you risk not being compensated for the extra time.

Invoicing & payments

Please do not invoice or create a draft invoice after every assignment, particularly if you are working several assignments per week. Alboum asks that you send invoices on a weekly, bi-weekly or a monthly basis. Invoices must be sent through the portal and are paid within 30 days of receipt and approval by the Account Manager.

To create your invoice, go to the Invoices tab and then click on Create Invoice.

In the pop-up window, select the date range and appointment(s) to include.

If you are an interpreter that completes multiple assignments each week in the interpretation platform, we ask that you do not invoice after each assignment.  When invoicing in Boostlingo, please group your assignments together for invoicing on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. We recommend not setting your date range for longer than one month at a time.

Click Create Invoice and the system will take you to the Invoice. Review your draft invoice, click Send, and then confirm you want to send in the pop-up window. Your invoice status will change to Sent (unread). If you think you submitted your invoice but it still shows in “draft” status, look on the right side of the screen you should see 3 dots that look like this. Click there, and you will have the option to submit to the administrator.  Once submitted, your invoice status will change to Sent (unread). Please note the status will update as the invoice is reviewed, processed, and paid as part of our internal accounting process. Once you submit your invoice through the interpretation dashboard, your payment will be initiated to you within 30 calendar days.

Payment Terms

Net 30:

Alboum pays linguists on a Net 30 schedule. Once you submit your invoice through the interpretation dashboard, your payment will be initiated to you within 30 calendar days. Please note that we have no control over delays due to processing time at local banks, local holidays, or local regulations. Invoices in draft status are not visible to our accounting team.

Cancelation:

Alboum pays for most appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice. Beginning in August 2026, we will not be charging clients nor paying interpreters for appointments canceled due to weather-related closures or emergencies beyond clients’ control.

Minimums:

Alboum pays all scheduled consecutive interpretation assignments with a one-hour minimum, because we try to be considerate of our clients’ limited budgets. We pay in half-hour blocks after the first hour. So, if the meeting is 5 minutes, you get paid for an hour. If it’s 65 minutes, you get paid for an hour and a half, etc. Considering client requirements, Alboum does not work with interpreters requiring more than a one-hour minimum for consecutive interpretation assignments.

Rates:

All rates are documented in the platform as agreed upon via email during the onboarding the process. Interpreters are responsible for updating Alboum Vendor Management at recruiting@alboum.com with any changes to rates or minimums before accepting an assignment.
