How to use Trados: Reference Materials for Freelance Translators

Optimizing Translation Memory to Meet Diverse Client Needs

Quality assurance is built into the Alboum commitment to excellence including:

  • our hiring practices
  • dedicated account managers
  • and a thoughtful approach to every project

AI and technology-enabled solutions are an integral part of our process, but that does not mean we deliver Google Translate!

Quite the opposite. We leverage tools and apps to empower real-life human linguists to deliver great work.

As part of our efforts, we have created a library of reference materials with resources for our linguist partners on how to use Trados.

How We Use Trados

Trados powers many of Alboum’s processes – allowing us to:

  • expedite the translation process
  • provide consistency across documents
  • empower our translators to work as efficiently as possible to meet client deadlines

We prefer working with translators who use Trados like we do, but also recognize that freelance translators use different translation memory tools to support their work, including Trados, memoQ, and even free tools like OmegaT.

We know that translators have different approaches to their work and that there are varying levels of knowledge and comfort with newer tools. That’s ok!

Alboum believes in providing our translators with the resources they need to do their jobs well. Which is why we created these reference materials on how to use Trados. We also make our account managers and quality assurance team members available to answer questions.

Our goal is to deliver high quality translations that meet our mission-driven clients’ budgetary and timeline requirements. It’s a juggling act to make it happen, but we’re all in it together.

At the end of the day, empowering our clients to serve their populations and supporting language equity is what’s most important.
